The Côte-de-Gaspé Health Foundation is proud to renew the allocation of electric blankets for the hemodialysis department of the Gaspé Hospital. It's a grant of about $700 that brings a lot of comfort to users during treatments that take place three times a week.
Haemodialysis consists of purifying the blood derived from the body and returned to the patient after the toxic waste has been removed. When the blood returns to the body, it is slightly cooled, which can lead to hypothermia. Being able to benefit from an electric blanket during treatments allows users to maintain a comfortable body temperature for the duration of the treatments.
This is a great example of how the Foundation uses donations to improve the quality of care, health and social services for our entire community!
