The Foundation is pleased to announce the grant of a SIV project. (Community Variable Intensity Monitoring Program) For nearly two years, their team has been organizing walks with users to promote socialization, getting outdoors and an active lifestyle. Since the pandemic, many of these users have been living in isolation and unfortunately do not have a social circle. As these hikes have a positive impact on users, the team felt the need to expand the social outing project and create new opportunities.

"My outings with the walking group organized by the outpatient mental health clinic are always a breath of fresh air, both for my lungs and my brain. It's a special event in my week, very special even. I don't dare to imagine what my sad life would be like without this very positive contribution. I don't have any family in the Gaspé Peninsula, so this group is my little family. I talk to the people at the manor, they are very happy for me. »

This is why the Foundation agreed to finance their project of $1,500 for the first year, in order to allow about ten users to participate in two days in a cottage in nature where several socialization and outdoor activities were organized, including rock painting, a workshop on anxiety, group cooking, etc.

The Foundation Santé Côte-de-Gaspé sincerely believes that this project has improved the quality of services and the quality of life of these users, which perfectly meets one of the objectives of its mission.
